Information on Workshop 4
Writing dialogues between Blackness, Indigeneity, and racial mixtures in critical race and ethnicity studies
The next iteration of our workshop, in partnership with the Museu das Favelas in São Paulo. We are grateful for the partnership, and the ability to create spaces for participants to engage with critical debates in the field of multiple racial identities.
Held between August 4th-7th, we will explore the complex processes of racialisation, the politics of racial mixture, intersectionality, and decoloniality within the contexts of Brazil and South Africa. Through creative writing activities, Theatre of the Oppressed, and artistic interventions, we aim to strengthen the connection between lived experiences and broader academic and public discourses, fostering a deeper and more contextualised understanding of race in (post)colonial contexts.
Grounded in an ethics of care, the workshops will offer a space of listening and mutual respect, where all participants are invited to share personal stories and lived experiences. Our aim is to contribute to building an archive that expands understandings of racialised identities today.
Thank you for everyone who took the time to apply. We look forward to welcoming you to this enriching experience!
